What we’re about
Mixers & Mingers is a friendly group and welcomes all despite your relationship status or age. However, this group is primarily for those who are in an age range of 40s to 60s that just want to get out of the house, join a fun group to do things with and make new friends!
We intend to offer a wide variety of events & activities like Happy Hours, Brunches, Dinners, Wine Tastings, Comedy shows, Live music (indoor/outdoor), Dancing, Karaoke, Trivia nights, Bingo, Bowling, Golf, Water tubing, Sip & Paint, Girls Night Out, Girls beach day, Pub Crawls, BYOB, Bears viewing party, Sunday Fundays, Cookie exchange, Volunteer opportunities, among many others.
We will have most events within the radius of Rosemont, Geneva/Elgin, Naperville & Oak Brook with a few events that will have us going to Wisconsin, downtown and Northern Suburbs.
Some events that could be outside of the normal radius: Ravinia, Cubs games, Sox games, Wine tasting downtown, pontoon boat Wisconsin, Snow tubing, etc..
To join our group you must have a recent and clear picture of yourself as we need to be able to recognize you in our events. In addition, you must use your real first name.
As you know, most places are short staffed and our group requires extra attention due to the separate checks. Please keep this in mind and be respectful to all staff.
Please be patient and if an issue comes up and requires assistance, please let Event Host while at the event.
We highly value friendship, kindness, and respect. With that being said, there are a few rules that must be followed:
Reaching out to members is not allowed without attending and meeting the person in public at one of our events. You will immediately be removed from the group. This is not a Dating App. Please send screenshot to me for any of you where this has happened. This is a safety issue.
Some venues require a minimum headcount or deposit in advance and some events have a waitlist, so if your plans change and you are unable to go to an event please be respectful to others and change your RSVP to “No” asap. You’ll be considered as a No Show if you cancel in less than 6 hours before an event that doesn't have a waitlist.
You will be considered a No Show if you don't change your RSVP 24 hours prior to event for those events with a waitlist or for those events that require a RSVP made by the host.
If you are a No Show twice you will not be able to attend future events.
You are not allowed to bring additional guests or any guest that is not included on your RSVP. For most events, we are not allowed to go over the maximum number we are given. You will be removed from group if this happens more than twice.
Our group is a social group and not a business networking group. Please refrain from trying to promote your business.
If you have any issues with any events or any hosts, you are to contact the Organizer (Heidi) to resolve and not to just report an issue to Meetup without resolving with myself first. This has happened to another group, where all the host's events were just deleted by Meetup.
Some attitudes in our events are definitely NOT ACCEPTED by our group which includes:
- sexual harassment
- Reaching out to members who you have not met in person at one of our events first.
- being rude or disrespectful to anyone in the group or staff
- leaving without paying for your bill
- intolerance or any hatred expression based on race, religion, age, gender, political party, handicap (mental or physical)
- any other behavior that is socially unacceptable
If it happens, we will remove you from the group and report you to Meetup Administration.
Safety is of everyone's concern and you are solely responsible for your own actions and personal safety, health, and well-being during our events. By attending, you also agree to the guidelines and terms on the group's meetup site.
We know how daunting it could be to attend your first Meetup event, but don't worry. Feel free to let the Event Host know, prior to the event, and we will make sure that we are "extra" welcoming.
Bringing friends is encouraged when available.
Welcome to Mixers & Minglers!
We look forward to meeting all of you!
