(In-person) Black Connect For Black Men Who Are Gay-bi-trans-queer
Details
Hi Fam,
The Oakland LGBTQ Center has finally received guidance that we may move into our first phase of in-person gathering. This means we will be hosting in-person Black Connect gatherings on the second Thursday of the month from 7-8:30pm. We will be meeting at the Oakland LGBTQ Center (3207 Lakeshore Ave., Entrance on Rand Ave. Oakland, CA 94610).
Please feel free to share this information and invite your friends who are Black queer men, trans men, and/or transmasculine identified. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in person!
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email Darius at [blkconnect@oaklandlgbtqcenter.org](mailto:blkconnect@oaklandlgbtqcenter.org) or call the center at 510-882-2286.
Much Love,
Darius
The Center complies with guidance from the California Public Health Department in order to adhere toCovid-19 guidelines regarding in-person meetings and remain in compliance. Community members must adhere to our policies to participate in in-person peer support groups at the Center. All participants are required to wear mask and have their temperature taken before attending a peer group session. People experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to attend groups until they are well.
DISCLAIMER: Affinity groups at the center reserve the right to prioritize the needs of the group that they and we have identified as undeserved. It stands to reason that someone might mistakenly walk into an affinity space they do not identify with - without knowledge of the affinity affiliation. The Center cannot possibly prevent any occurrence of this unfortunate instance happening - even with great promotion - we cannot control the possibility of the occasional word of mouth misperception. We therefore have agreed as a community to respect the boundaries set by these affinity collective care circles and ask that anyone finding themselves in an instance of mistakenly entering an affinity circle that they do not identify with to please exit without taxing the collective or its facilitators to be traumatized by having to explain or defend the right to healthy boundaries set by the group.
