Invisible Man is one of the best books of the 20th century; one too often overlooked. It’s themes are various, including black nationalism, the relationship between black identity and Marxism, and the reformist racial policies of Booker T. Washington, as well as issues of individuality and personal identity. Parts of it will make you furious and parts will make you frustrated. Still, it’s a powerful book.
