Shady & Cool Whiting Ranch - to Red Rock Canyon

This hike is shady and cooler nearly the whole time due to the Canyon blocking the sun. Let's get out of the house and make new friends and exercise.
Parking is free behind McDonalds or behind Arbys or $3 at the trailhead unless you have a park pass which makes it free to you as well.
Do not recommend sneakers or say Van's skateboard shoes. Best with light trail shoes or above.
Recommend Flashlights or Cell Phones since we return at dark.
Some of us will also go to the Food Court next to the Movie Theaters after the hike as well.
General Rating/Difficulty: Level 1. This is not a hard core excise group though. Red Rock Canyon is a Level 1 hike with good scenery of the Red Rock Canyon.
Route: We will start at the bottom of Borrego Canyon at the Red Rock Canyon Park Trailhead, next to the Ralphs Parking lot in Foothill Ranch. Free Parking is plentiful next to Arbys and McDonalds, plus the park service has paid parking right at the trail entrance. For those of you with Annual Passes then that is the best spot. We meet at the trail entrance as noted in the map. We will go up and back to Red Rock Canyon.
Duration/Distance/Elevation: 1.25 hours, 4 miles and gain 735ft
Suggestions :
- Everybody should have good hiking shoes or traction running shoes.
- Bring a flashlight or cell phone light since we are out till sunset.
