Welcome! Thank you for showing interest in joining our community!

Many of us in this group have had traumatic experiences while being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, although the impact of these events and our ability to recover from them vary widely.

Please be mindful of this when interacting with one another. Give each other the benefit of the doubt when misunderstandings arise, extend positive regard and be compassionate and gentle with your words. We’ve all been through a lot.

That being said, be aware of your own boundaries. If someone is making you feel uncomfortable, tell them (or an organizer). Do not share more than you feel comfortable; participation is never required. If anxiety arises, feel free to step away from the group and take care of yourself.

Allow yourself to go slowly when making connections with group members. Closeness takes time, and there's no rush. Although we share a common past experience, we are all very different. Getting to know each other will surely present many surprises, some we will accept eagerly and others will challenge us.

Any violation of consent, including hurtful language directed at a member of the group, will not be tolerated. Depending on the severity of what has happened, a warning or a group ban will be issued. This is also not a place to "convert" ex-Witnesses to other religions/beliefs or promote personal business interests.

The majority of in-person events are hosted in public places in or near Toronto. If you are interested in wanting to arrange something close to where you live, please let the organizer know and an event in your area can be posted.

There is a regular online event on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm Eastern Time. Please email libby@listeningtreestudio.ca if you have any questions.
