Goldstrike Loop (2nd run)

Goldstrike Canyon offers a unique view of the Hoover Dam's desert mountains. After a few miles of easy dirt you'll immediately climb up a very narrow shelf road high above the Lake Mead level. The entire loop is a single shelf road right off the mountain cliff, not for the faint of heart. The short route that travels along the northern edge of the Black Canyon wilderness, a rugged power line road with desert mountain landscape. Best views at late sundown to get the colors of the mountains and to avoid traffic in the single shelf road. It is advised to leave the cliffside right before the darkness for safety.

Easy 4x4 drive from Via Inspirada to Jean Lake Bed area where we can explore around in the maze of trails, share experience and tips such as safety and trail etiquette which will be discuss at the drivers meeting and along the way.
What makes that run interesting is we go through multiple type of terrains: Rocky ways, sand, up and down hills make this 4x4 drive a good one for new OFFRO4Ders with the desire to acquire knowledge about their vehicle and skills off-roading as well for experts to test their new gears and share experience.

It is 4x4 stock friendly. However, we will air down anyway as we will be traveling through different kind of terrain and because we Tread Lightly. (advantages of airing down will be explained to the new offro4ders).
If you do not have deflators and air pump: we got you, no worries.

We will have lunch at the quarry which is quiet since it's at the dead end of a trail, away from the lake bed and has awesome views.
Bring your favorite snacks and off the grid lunch, a jacket, shade and chairs as well as plenty of water to stay hydrated.*
* location for lunch may vary depending timing. (During summer temperatures, lunch time is shorten to less than 30 minutes so we have more time enjoying the A/C in our vehicle).

Recommended:
Your best camera: we love seeing your pictures.
Any off-road capable vehicle (jeep rating 2 with optional obstacle for the experts).
A/T tires (I mean no street tires) in good condition and a working full size spare tire.
Food, snacks, plenty of water.
GMRS radio is encouraged but not required.
You are welcome to have guests in your vehicle and are responsible for their behavior.

### Mead Davis Power Road

Mead Davis Power Road is a rocky, dusty, sandy, rutted, washed-out road. Some sections require a short wheelbase high clearance vehicle, otherwise, its an easy road 4x4 is mandatory. There is a chance for water crossings when in the rainy seasons and flash floods. The road runs through both Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the Bureau of Land Management Government Lands. This area is a limited-use area, and camping is only allowed in approved areas, offroad use is not allowed unless on a designated route. The road ends at a sign which says road closed, there is no water access, please turn around do not proceed past the sign, therefor, we will make a right turn onto:

### Mead Davis Powerline Road

The first half of the trail is hard pack dirt with rutted areas and uneven grades, single-car wide. The second half of the trail is washes with two-car wide areas most of the way and single-car wide as you get closer to the lake. Large boulders are in the wash so if you are in the dust drive carefully.

### Christmas Tree Pass

Christmas Tree Pass is a fun, dirt road adventure in the hills above the Colorado River on the Arizona/Nevada border. It is named for a tree on the trail that is decorated with Christmas ornaments. This is a relatively easy drive, with the occasional need for 4Low on the east section when the sand is soft. There are numerous viewpoints with beautiful regional desert vistas. This is rattlesnake territory, so take caution.

Recommended:
Any off-road 4x4 capable vehicle (jeep rating 2-3. May be 4 in certain areas depending the rainfalls, if any).
Good working full size spare tire and good condition A/T tires.
Food, snacks, plenty of water.
GMRS radio is encouraged but not required. I have a 1 spare if needed.
