Okanagan Slow and Steady Hikers

This wonderful hike has been done twice this year and was very enjoyable. So for those who have not done it, come on along 😊

The parking is not great so early arrivals get the best spots on Riddle Road . Go on 97 to Penticton and make your way through to Naramata and Riddle Rd.

The start is right there where the huge disc golf is Three Blind Mice. Following event we am go to the 97 st pub in Penticton iot Avandoned Rail Trail brewery on Davenport off Naramata rd

I am putting this out there for anyone who wishes to join me, as I do it every week, weather dependent.

Meet at the start of the switchback trail in E. Boundary Rd at 10.00am. Takes two hours return.

This is a good, but very long hike moderate in difficulty. 11.7 kms 691 m elevation and 4-5 hrs in time.

This park offers an adventure that requires fortitude as it’s a long hike through sagebrush country concluding with a steep climb. Ensure you have plenty of water.

The actual columns are not within the park boundaries but the park provides a viewpoint of these volcanic monuments. These spectacular formations of slowly-cooled lava, with the characteristic vertically-hexagonal jointing of basalt, rise majestically out of the surrounding fir forest.

The Keremeos Columns share the same geological phenomenon status as the Giant Causeway in Northern Ireland and the Devil’s Tower in Wyoming.

We have done this trek for the past 4-5 years graciously led my Doug Antonides. Last year was the only time he could not do it due sadly to the passing of his wife to cancer

This year Doug will be doing it again. Everyone old and new is welcome. Bring sun protection if needed and lots of water.
