What we’re about
OKC WebDevs is a multi-language programming group in Oklahoma City that focuses on all technologies revolving around web development. This includes JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PHP, C#, and let’s be honest - practically any programming language. In addition to web development, we also aim to be a general purpose programming group, so we will often have talks that discuss non-web related topics such as DevOps, software tools and libraries, game development - and more. We currently meet in-person every other month for an hour over lunch on the 3rd Tuesday of that month, where you can get a FREE lunch on in-person meetups, listen to an expert speaker, engage in QA, and network with your fellow devs. During the other months, we also meet for evening social events so we can say hi to one another! Please join us, we'd love to see you.

See all- Tool Talks 🛠️Clevyr, Inc., Oklahoma City, OK
This month, we are bringing back Tool Talks 🛠️! Join us for a free Tuesday lunch at Clevyr in OKC while listening to some awesome local speakers share the tech tools they use that keep them productive. All skill levels are welcome; these talks are especially great to listen to for those newer to coding and/or our community.
What are Tool Talks? They’re somewhat similar to Lightning Talks in that they are short, but they focus on sharing and/or demoing a tool that you use that is helpful. It could be a VS Code plugin, a command line tool, a graphical application, a new package from your favorite programming language - anything like that! As far as talk criteria goes, we’re aiming for:
- 5 minute time limit (that’s shorter than lightning talks)
- No slides. Just a short demo of what the tool is and why you like it
We have one more slot available for speaking! Here's our current lineup:
- Simple Slides - Aaron Krauss
- Misty Durham - Mastering MS Teams for Project Management
- Processing JSON with jq - Nick Lindley
- Storybook - Lucas Maul
- Devbox - Lance Stephens
- available
Interested in speaking at a future event? Hit up either Aaron Krauss (@thecodeboss) or Stephen Vincent (@Vincent) in the Techlahoma slack. Not a part of slack? Send yourself a free invite at https://slack.techlahoma.org. Short talks like these are a great opportunity for first-time speakers to step out of your comfort zone and get up on the stage. If that's you, then we'd love to have you, and we'll work with you every step of the way to make sure you feel comfortable and ready to give your talk.
This meetup is in-person at Clevyr (where the food, drinks, and parking are always free), and will also be streamed live on Techlahoma's Twitch channel at https://twitch.tv/techlahoma.
- Lightning Talks ⚡️Clevyr, Inc., Oklahoma City, OK
This month, we'll be doing Lightning Talks ⚡️ in-person at Clevyr! Join us for a free Tuesday lunch while listening to some awesome local speakers talk about all things dev and dev-adjacent. All skill levels are welcome; lightning talks are especially great talks to listen to for those new to coding and/or our community.
Here's our lineup. We have one more available speaker slot:
- TBD - Kerry Severin
- The Tornado RESKit (Resilience Kit): Survival & Recovery in One Off-Grid Device - Vincent Moreno
- Sveltekit ain't ready for Primetime: a Vue.js love story - Ty Malik
- available
But wait! What are lightning talks? We're glad you asked: A lightning talk is a short 5-10 minute talk over anything that you find interesting, and typically we have 3-4 talks total during a Lightning Talk meetup. Talk topics can range over a personal project, a new technology, or just something that makes you think "hey, I bet other people might like to know about this thing." It's a great way for you as an attendee (and speaker!) to learn about a lot of new things that you didn't know about before.
Lightning Talks are slightly different from Tool Talks in that Lightning Talks:
- Can be slightly longer (up to 10 minutes).
- Are less demo-driven (although they still can have a demo), and thus we recommend having slides.
If you're interested in speaking in the future, reach out to @thecodeboss (Aaron Krauss) or @Vincent (Stephen Vincent) in the Techlahoma Slack. Not a part of slack? Send yourself a free invite at https://slack.techlahoma.org.
