May 2024 Book Club Meeting

Hi All,
Our book this month is The Zone of Interest by Martin Amis.
Set in Auschwitz, it tells the story of a Nazi officer who has become enamoured of the camp commandant's wife. The story is conveyed by three narrators: Angelus Thomsen, the officer; Paul Doll, the commandant; and Szmul Zacharias, a Jewish Sonderkommando.


(Jonathan Glazer's new film The Zone of Interest is based on Amis's 2014 novel of the same name. It will undoubtedly revive general interest in the author's work. But in truth Glazer's film has very little in common with Amis's original novel)
