Speakers: Using analytics to inform stories & emerging tech for journalists

It will be hosted by Syntax Physic Opera (http://physicopera.com/) on 554 South Broadway, Denver. Doors open at 6pm for a 6:30pm start.

Speakers

1. Lauren Gustus, @laurengustus (https://twitter.com/laurengustus), Fort Collins Coloradoan

Lauren is executive editor at The Coloradoan, a Gannet-owned outlet which takes a platform-specific approach to breaking news.

She will talk about how her award-winning team is embracing new technology within the newsroom, including using analytics to inform stories, and how other journalists can incorporate metrics into their work.

2. Robert Hernandez, @webjournalist (https://twitter.com/webjournalist), USC Annenberg School

Robert is an associate professor at USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in Los Angeles.

He is an ONA board member, a co-organizer of Hacks/Hackers LA and the co-founder of #wjchat (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23wjchat&src=typd), a weekly Twitter chat for journalists.

Robert will talk about emerging technology for journalists, including experiments in virtual reality storytelling.
