Once Upon A Sketch

Calling all aspiring illustrators and doodlers. Whether you're building a children's illustration portfolio or just want to stay creative with drawing prompts, come draw with us.

We meet fortnightly on Google Meet for one hour of focused drawing time. Each month, we use a different source of children's illustration as a springboard for creating something new, in your own voice and style. Prompts based on published work help spark ideas, encourage exploration, and keep creativity flowing.

🖍️ How it works:
Images from children’s illustration anchors your work. Example: A scene from 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' → your drawings might be:
– A tea party scene
– A custom-designed tea set
– A tiger illustration
or any other idea it inspires!

Each meet uses different prompts to warm up, experiment, or build toward a portfolio piece. Example:

• Draw a tiger
• Design a teapot
• Illustrate your favourite hot drink

One-hour sessions
– 10 min: Hello + warm-up prompt
– 45 min: Drawing time
– 5 min: Optional sharing + goodbyes

👋 Good to know: This is a peer-led group—I’m not a teacher, just an illustrator working on my own portfolio. All styles and skill levels are welcome. While prompts are inspired by children's illustration, your artwork doesn’t have to be. Just keep it PG-rated and respectful. Join in to explore new ideas, and draw with gentle accountability.
