What we’re about
Well, if you were wondering why things seemed a little quiet lately, this is the reason!
November 18-19 sees one of the Worlds’ IoT leading experts Johan Stokking travel to Adelaide, South Australia for the first Asia Pacific "The Things Network Conference".
The Things Network is the world’s global, open, free-to-use IoT network with over 9000 gateways and 90000 developers, driving innovation in sectors as diverse as environmental science, agriculture, smart cities and mining.
Joining Johan are IoT leaders from across the APAC region including industry front runners Meshed, Amazon and Fleet. The City of Adelaide will host a panel focusing on Smart Cities as part of the business stream while leading radio engineers will get into the nuts and bolts of LoRaWAN in the technical stream.
Full details of the program and workshops are now available, along with your chance to grab conference tickets before they all go at https://thethingsnetwork.org.au.
This Meetup initiated by the Growing Data Foundation will be covering topics around the Adelaide Node of The Things Network (an Open Radio network to connect the 'Internet of Things') and OpenData. It's purpose is to encourage collaborative usage of the network and sharing of the resulting data-sets.
If you're interested in or what to know more about open networked hardware, getting data from sensors and other devices over a longer range or just like playing about withOpen Hardware platforms. Programmers, artists, designers, academics, and business-types are all welcome. Find us at @growingdatafdt on Twitter and use #TTNADL to share.
Topics including (but not limited to):
• Open Data (making data accessible via permissive licenses to promote sharing and re-use)
Sensors
• Internet of Things
• Storage of Open Data
• Analytics and apps
• Educational uses of OpenData and IoT
Please take some time to complete your group profile and introduce yourself to the group - enjoy :)

See all- The Industrial Design of AgriTech -Commercialising IoT & on farm hardwareCodeFish Studios, Adelaide
Bringing robust AgriTech hardware from concept to commercial reality in agriculture is a long, iterative journey.
It demands more than just a good idea; it requires a deep understanding of industrial design, resilient engineering, and testing the unforgiving realities of the farm environment.
In partnership with CodeFish Studio, this SA AgriTech Meetup will explore the product development process of creating agricultural technology.
We'll take a deep dive into the tools, strategies, and design principles required to build the next generation of sensors, IoT devices, and on-farm hardware that lasts.Learn from the commercialisation journeys, design decisions, and product management learnings from the teams behind:
- CropX
- Woven Optics
- Soil Acoustics
The meetup will be hosted at CodeFish Studio, where their team will demonstrate the tools and techniques they use to rapidly prototype and develop AgriTech products.
