Note: MLK Jr Day is an official Monday holiday, and we hope you will consider volunteering with us on this MLK Jr Day of Service. St. Joseph Center is a nonprofit organization that serves the community by offering community gardens and charitable food distribution. We will help the St. Joseph's Center's with pasture/habitat restoration (clearing rocks, debris), fence construction, animal care, and garden/grounds upkeep, all under the guidance and instruction of some of senior volunteers. Minimal prior experience necessary! Meet up the driveway at the Farm Stand at 9am -- there is parking. Individuals and groups welcome. Those of any age are invited to participate; children must have adult supervision. Bring water, any tools you would like to work with, like rakes, shovels, and so on. Be sure to wear gloves and sturdy shoes! • What we'll do ODO is now having a monthly Pizza-And-More-Party! Come enjoy visiting with old friends and making new ones!! We'll enjoy FREE pizza and cookies (and pretzels for those amazing pizza/cookie resisters), and great conversation with new and old friends. And... information will be shared on upcoming Volunteer Opportunities and Community Events. :) All are welcomed, so feel free to invite your friends to this fun event! • What to bring Nothing to bring (except your fun spirit! (Oh, and feel free to invite guest/s!) • Important to know Please note that Sufficient Grounds, where we have met for years, has been sold and is no longer available for ODO to have parties or meetings. Our monthly Pizza Party will be in the West Room at the main library in downtown Little Rock.
• What we'll do Free wine, beer, food, live music, socializing --and Art-- at the Historic Arkansas Museum for "2nd Friday Art Nite"! Event is officially from 5PM to 8PM, but most of us arrive around 5:30 or later. Brian will have his cell[masked] if you can’t find the group. Directions to the museum: At the bottom of the i-30 exit ramp for the river market, proceed straight onto 2nd Street. Museum is on the left. There's free parking across from the museum's south entrance (the lot says reserved but it's open to the public every Art Nite). To get to the parking lot from 2nd St, turn left onto Rock St, then left onto 3rd St. • What to bring • Important to know
On the 2nd Saturday of every month, we prepare dinner for 40 women & children residents at the domestic violence shelter (they so appreciate it!). Once we've prepared the meal, then one ODO'er will drive it to the confidential domestic violence shelter location. No need to bring an ingredient. Bethany provides everything. However, she encourages donations up to $10 to offset the cost. This is one of our funnest and most fulfilling events - hope to see you there!
