• What we'll do
Open Door Outreach invites you to attend the first-Monday-of-the-month Meetup at Riviera Maya for Happy Hour --featuring cheap drinks and free chips and salsa! (It also has good, inexpensive food for any who want dinner). Come enjoy great conversation with great people, and also receive the latest updates on community events and volunteer opportunities! Oh, if you arrive late, no worries. :) Riviera Maya is located at the junction of I-630 and the Fair Park Blvd exit.
This is our FUN once-per-month (2nd Sundays) cleanup of Main Street, LR, between 12th & 19th Streets. We meet in front of Community Bakery at I-630 & Main St. and our route returns us to Community Bakery (some ODO’ers enjoy staying there afterwards for coffee/chat/dessert!).
• What we'll do
Free wine, craft beer, food, live music, socializing --and Art-- at the Historic Arkansas Museum (HAM) for "2nd Friday Art Night”! This is a fun social outing for ODOers; no volunteering necessary. Event is officially from 5PM to 8PM, but most of us arrive around 5:30 or later. Brian will have his cell[masked] if you can’t find the group. After an hour or so at HAM, we often walk to the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies or to the Old State House Museum.
Directions to HAM: from LR or NLR on I-30, take exit for “Cantrell Rd, Clinton Ave” (exit 141A) then follow “Markham St.” exit signs to the River Market area, and you are almost there. Immediately after entering 2nd St. from exit ramp, take first left at light onto Cumberland, then next right onto 3rd St. Parking for HAM is on left (the lot says reserved but it's open to the public every Art Night). Address is 200 E. Third St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72201.
• What to bring
• Important to know
Weather permitting, this event is held every second Saturday. Let's team up with a few people from Central Arkansas Master Naturalists and clean out the 100 foot floating trash booms on Fourche Creek near Benny Craig Park.
You do not have to bring a kayak or canoe, but if you can, that would help. Two or three of those without a canoe can team up with those in one of two fishing boats. Others without a watercraft of some sort can help clean the banks and help sort and weigh trash brought to the boat ramp.
Litter grabbers and trash bags are provided. Bring your own water, snacks, etc. If you have large buckets, containers, laundry baskets to place the trash into, please bring those. Any help you can give is very much appreciated!
