1. Search Relevance Engineering: Why Your Search Results Are Wrong

Speaker: Syed Jafer K - Full Stack Developer at Bosch

Have you ever searched for something and the results felt completely wrong, even though the correct answer exists? Building a search system is not just about finding information, it is about showing the most useful result first.

In this talk, we will explore why search results often go wrong and how engineers improve them. Using simple examples, we will see how search engines decide which results appear at the top and how small tweaks like understanding synonyms, giving importance to certain fields, or interpreting user intent can dramatically improve search quality.

2. Building Resilient OpenSearch Clusters with Cross-Cluster Replication

Modern applications depend heavily on search infrastructure, and reliability is critical. In this talk, we’ll explore how cross-cluster replication in Amazon OpenSearch can help build more resilient and fault-tolerant search systems.

We’ll look at practical strategies used in real environments to replicate data across clusters for high availability and disaster recovery.

The session will also cover different approaches for older and newer OpenSearch/Elasticsearch-compatible versions, helping teams design replication strategies that work in production.
