South Bay OpenStack Meetup, Beginner track

These meetups are community based and focused. The Beginner track is for someone with little to no experience with OpenStack. You can be just interested in expanding your devOps horizons or someone that just wants to learn more about this cloud thing. The Intermediate track is for a experienced devOps, some python experience, and an understanding of OpenStack core. Some advanced OpenStack devOps will join the hackathon from time to time. The Advanced track is for seasoned OpenStack devOps to discuss blueprints and code. Each Advanced devOps meetup will focus on a different OpenStack core project.

Drink, food, whiteboards and wifi provided by Yahoo! Bring a laptop if you want to code or to install DevStack to take away with you. These meetups will run on alternate weeks from the San Francisco meetups. All the cool kids go to both.

Updates will be published via the meetup email list, OpenStack community blog, and twitter via @sarob

Lee Xie did a great job providing an overview of Openstack as well as showing some of the "nuts and bolts" of its operation. Thanks!

It was my first time attending the beginner track. I attended via WebEx session. I think the technical level was very good but it suffered from the low quality of WebEx audio which was very bad. It appeared that two people (at least) are speaking to two different audience at the same time, I could barely understand anything.

Sorry about that. The av setup broke down tonight. I guess after 25 of these we were due for a fail. Next time WebEx will work better.

This is my first time joining the meeting, I was wondering how do we enter the Yahoo building? The meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm and most likely the doors are locked.

Excellent introduction to OpenStack, and comparison of OpenStack with other open source options for creating private clouds - CloudStack and Eucalyptus. Also included comments about comparison with the commercial offering from VMWare and AWS.
