Hello! This group has a huge legacy value but is about to evolve into a grander project involving AI.

OpenTorontoAI bundles group owner, Keith McDonald's work around Artificial Intelligence (the literacyAI project) and Open Toronto's original belief in transparency, trust and agency.
No need to go into the deep "blah, blah, blah" yet but you will start to see direct understanding AI work appearing here.

If you are up for some past history here is some info on OUR LEGACY:
In the 2010s, The Open Government & Open Data movements fueled an unprecedented cultural and technological shift inside the halls of our government. But the momentum of the early movement largely ran out right around the time of the COVID epidemic. The movement isn't dead but those machines that go "beep" are showing some bad vitals.

The Open Toronto Meetup Group dedicated itself to exploring the potential of the Open movements by profiling voices from government, citizens, and technologists. At the time,we were a political neutral community group meant to establish trust by creating a collaborative environment between government and the public.
Our past events, galas, outings, and work closely with all levels of government had some value to be sure, but the enthusiasm of partners waned - no longer providing free meet up spaces being the most damaging example. This brings us to a huge time lag in any action from the group for many years.

As AI has overtaken government interest over and above the open arena, we are looking at revitalizing any street cred we earned with an amalgamation of efforts. AI has become one mega change agent - especially since Gen AI it the scene. We hope you'll come along as we return to our efforts with this augmented & expanded horizon.
