Cash bar.
FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Smaller children may be overwhelmed and during the lightning talks we would like the audience to be respectfully quiet - the spakers have only 3 minutes to make their point, so having to compete with the audience when talking is problematic. However, technically anyone can come. The cash bar will be checking IDs to keep the minors out trouble.

Tech Demo Q&A

Demos at the intersection of art & tech from 5–6pm
Q: What are the demos for?
A: The demos are an inspirational look at local examples of work at the intersection of technology and art. They will showcase creative ways of using technical and digital tools and techniques to feed the imaginations of makers of all types.
Q: Who will be presenting?
A: This is a partial list of demos; more will be added as they confirm:

Orah 360 Streaming VR Video by Big Heavy World

Virtual Reality Demonstrations

Champlain College's Emergent Media Center

UVM's FabLab

Drones and maps by UVM's Spatial Science Team and others... including indoor drone races. Yes. Seriously.

Community of Opportunity Q&A

Lightning talks about resources for innovators from 6–7:30pm
Q: What is the purpose of these lightening talks?
A: The presenters all represent resources for individuals in the overlapping fields of art, technology and entrepreneurism. Specifically, they will be explaining what services they provide to the community that help independent creators advance their ideas, art or business. Individual topics may vary from investment funding, to new technologies, to community partnerships.
Q: Who will be presenting?
A: This is a partial list of speakers; more will be added as they are confirmed:

BTV Ignite

The US Department of Arts and Culture Outpost

UVM Vice President for Research Office

VT Creative Network

CERF+

UVM's Spatial Science Lab

LaunchVT

Q: What is the presentation format?
A: All presenters will be given 3 minutes with a microphone and a slide deck to explain who they are and how they can help. At the end of 3 minutes the speaker gets booted off stage whether they are done or not!
Q: Who is the audience for these talks?
A: Attendees will probably have a connection to art, technology, entrepreneurism or some combination. Their interest may be as hobbists, professionals, or anywhere in between. The common thread is people who are interested in reaching across sectors, and who want to see what resources available to the community.
Q: As a presenter, what materials do I need to provide?
A: If you are giving a lightening talk, you need to provide these materials by Monday, October 8th:

A logo (preferably a 1200px jpg or png)

An optional slide deck (up to 7 slides in a Google Presentation format)

Personal email & phone for Sector Mash admins

General contact info for the audience

Information should be emailed to info@codeforbtv.org

Q: As a presenter, who can I contact for more information?
A: Contact us at that same email: info@codeforbtv.org

Meetup of Meetups Q&A

Social meetup for cross pollination from 7:30–9:00pm
Q: What's this all about?
A: Fun conversations & music. Past community resource events have been highly valued, but many people have said that they wish there was more time to connect afterwards. So we're dedicating the hour and half following the demos and lightening talks to some purely social time with drinks and some good music.

CODE FOR BTV

Code for BTV works to bolster civic justice throughout Vermont by solving digital hurdles for mission-based organizations.
Code for BTV is an official local chapter (known as a Brigade) of the national program Code for America. We facilitate sustainable collaborations on civic software and open data projects between coders, designers, and organizations (both governmental and non-governmental) in Vermont. Effectively, we act as a pro-bono digital agency for our partners, covering all aspects of project design, development, and delivery.
While we are based in Burlington, we strive to work on projects that ultimately have state-wide affect. Our leadership team meets in Burlington weekly, but we work our day-jobs in Shelburne, Burlington, and Montpelier. Code for BTV hosts events for civic hackers to come together and work on building and reusing civic apps and support open data initiatives.
