About us

Surveillance is an epidemiological process. While criminal psychology falls under the purview of epidemiology, technology used to surveil residents in Chicago (whether video, biometric incl. fingerprints, DNA, computer based recognition applications) is pervasive.

The purpose of this group is to walk around Chicago and discuss the evidence of surveillance around us. As the meetup group leader, I will also express counterarguments to theories about surveillance (e.g. 'a need for data', 'a need for real-time video', 'a need for safety through authoritarianism').
