Photoshop: The Power of Layer Masks - Part 1

Details

By overwhelming demand, we're going to delve deeply into the Power of Layer Masks over two Meetups, starting with this one ...

One of the beauties of Photoshop is the ability to make changes locally, not just globally. Layer Masks are a powerful way to accomplish this, whether it is for contrast, color correction or sharpening . Discover how to get started with this wonderful feature.

• Because Layer Masks can be one of the tougher concepts of Photoshop to wrap your brain around, this will take two Meetups: Thursday, April 20th (this Meetup) and the following month, Thursday, May 18th (https://www.meetup.com/Orange-County-Photoshop-for-Photographers/events/239120190/). I strongly encourage you to sign up for and attend both Meetups to fully grasp how Layer Masks can benefit you.

• Those who RSVP are encouraged to pre-submit one or two higher-res JPG or TIFF file - Although we'll probably only get to 6 or 7 of these files, we'll use them throughout both seminars to put what we've learned into practice. Please submit via my webpage upload (http://www.wattsdigital.com/uploadfilestous.html) ... Please send your file "un-enhanced" (no Photoshop work) - In fact, "problem" files are encouraged! Please prep you file for no larger than approximately 8" x 12" @ 300ppi, 8 bit - Please, please, please: YOUR FILE SHOULD BE NO LARGER THAN 30 MB!! No RAW files please ...

The cost to attend is $10 for each 90 minute Meetup, payable when you RSVP online, or at the door (exact change appreciated!) - Please note: You will need to RSVP online for each Meetup separately.

A useful handout will be provided. Please note that in the interest of time, the focus will be on "Layer Masks", rather than other functions, tools, and concepts of Photoshop.

This low-cost workshop is designed primarily for those fairly new to Photoshop, but it is also a good "refresher" course in the basics for those with a bit more experience. As this presentation is in a “seminar” format (via a digital projector), bringing your laptop is NOT recommended, due to limited space and time (tablets OK). Questions encouraged - I'll provide bottled water - - We'll finish up promptly at 8:30 PM.

See you there!
