Orange County Native Plant Society Monthly Meeting

Details
From the OC Plant Society website (https://chapters.cnps.org/oc/2025/04/22/20250514-meeting-botanical-illustrations-rogers/):
OVERVIEW
Before we had photography, we had art. Pictures are great and an art in themselves, but sometimes photos do not fully do a plant justice when a botanist is trying to correctly identify them. Illustrations can capture an array of features and textures that photography cannot fully display. Botanical illustration is of the most skilled and underappreciated forms of media used to identify plants throughout most of the world. Join us as we have local artist, Emyle Rogers, present on the history and importance of botanical illustrations throughout California and the region
ARTIST PRESENTER
Emyle Rogers is a Southern California-based artist and environmentalist. They translate various artistic skills through numerous media and projects. Their work focuses on California indigenous habitats, ethnobotany, and seasonality. Their most recent piece of work was in collaboration with OC CNPS to create a native plant coloring book that will be on sale before the meeting! Additionally, Emyle will have their own work for sale before the meeting. You can find more of Emyle’s work on their Instagram under the handle @chamemyle.
