What we’re about
As Orange County's premier UX community, OCUX brings together designers, researchers, and digital product professionals in one dynamic group. Founded in 2011, we’ve grown into the region’s largest user experience organization, welcoming members from throughout OC and neighboring areas.
We’re proud to be part of UX Speakeasy — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — uniting over 7,500 designers across Southern California. Together, we form the largest design community in the region, powered by volunteers and dedicated to advancing the craft of digital product design.
Our mission is to advance the field of user experience through knowledge-sharing, professional development, and meaningful connections. Each month, we host engaging events featuring renowned industry experts from leading tech companies, interactive workshops, and valuable networking opportunities.
Whether you’re a seasoned UX professional, transitioning into the field, or simply passionate about human-centered design, OCUX provides a supportive environment to:
- Learn from top design and research leaders
- Connect with a vibrant network of local professionals
- Share best practices in UX strategy, research, and design

Ok, fasten your seatbelts, here we go. This will most likely be our last event of the year after our joint Holiday Party - go to that one over this one if you can only make one for sure, lol. We can recap the year a bit and get some feedback from you all about what's next in 2026. We will give first dibs to those who have a UX project update or portfolio to share. So we had been in a holding pattern between UX Design Process steps 1, 2, and 3 until a significant number of people were ready for step 4, Design itself. Private message me on Meetup or LinkedIn, or update your FigJam work area HERE with updates letting us know where you are (be sure to ask for edit access if you are new to a project). We have covered Step 1 of the UX "Design" process which is UX Research (aka Discovery / Empathize), Step 2 Define Problem, and Step 3 Ideate or Solution to get an idea the goals we are moving into and for those that are ready to take the next step. We will review common UX Research skills and techniques and see which ones makes sense to use for your project, answer questions about how we analyze the data in Step 1, transition to Step 2, then move on into Step 3. We will discuss these steps in detail and apply them to your UX projects.
Jump in the 2025 UX Projects any time. I can easily catch you up to speed. No prior UX experience needed.
More Details:
Do you—or someone you know—want to break into the field of User Experience (UX) Research and Design? Whether you’re looking for a career change, skill refresh, or a new creative challenge, this could be your opportunity!
This free UX class is modeled after top UX boot camps that typically cost thousands—even tens of thousands—of dollars. My goal is to provide a cost-free, inclusive learning experience, especially for minorities and those facing financial barriers to traditional education.
### What is UX?
UX (User Experience) is all about how people interact with products, services, and technology. It focuses on making experiences intuitive, engaging, and efficient. If you’ve ever thought, “This app is so easy to use!” or “Why is this website so frustrating?”—that’s UX in action!
### What Will We Do?
We’ll learn by doing, following the entire UX design process with real projects. You can:
- Work on your own project
- Team up with others
- Contribute to one of my projects
Together, we’ll cover essential UX skills, share ideas, and get feedback—all while building something meaningful. We’ll also bring in guest speakers, industry experts, and peer teaching to enrich the experience.
### Who Should Join?
UX is for everyone—no prior experience needed. It’s a great fit for people from backgrounds like:
- Graphic Design
- Marketing
- Psychology
- Architecture
- IT (like me!)
...or anyone curious about tech, creativity, and problem-solving. Bonus: No coding required!
### Why Join?
- Build your portfolio with real projects
- Gain career-ready skills in a high-demand field
- Network with like-minded learners and professionals
- Possibly launch a startup or transition into UX
This is a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and collaborate. If you—or someone you know—is interested, let’s connect!
