Wordsmith extraordinaire Gerald is Prompt Caller / Convenor of the Day. His advance prompt for 400 words (or fewer) of poetry or prose is below and as usual the meet-up with start with a 5-minute impromptu writing exercise.

Writers at all levels and of all genres are welcome (especially poets!).

What has 2.5 million rivets, 13,000 bolts, 18,038 iron parts, cost the equivalent of $1,495,139.89 (US), was expected to survive only 20 years and to this day still has only 4 toilets?

If you can ideate an answer to this composite question (without resorting to Wikipedia) then it’s just possible in 400 words and conceptually less you are capable of writing a concentrated novella or poem (any genre) using the prompt:“The last time I saw (eyesore?) Paris”.

The purpose is to inform and entertain those others of us attending the Orewa Writers & Poets Group meet-up (also endeavouring to share their wrestling with the same thing) at Robert’s house from 13.05 on Saturday, 15 February 2025.

If not, you are still cordially welcome to come anyway bearing some alternative written product of your fertile literary imagination past or present to share.
