About us
This is a reading group for people who want to read and discuss critical theory. We’ll read works of psychoanalysis, literary theory, feminism, and cultural studies.
The plan is for this to function as a book club: show up having read as much or as little as you could, meet some new people, grab a drink, and jump into the discussion.
We will focus on easy and accessible texts to start, and we'll transition to books that interest the group as a whole.

Philosophy Book Club: Lets Discuss! Voices of Silence by Nirmala Erevelles
Orlando Public Library, 101 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL, USFollowing up from the prior Foucault essay we read, I wanted to link with Foucault-adjacent writers and essays that will allow us to "think" Foucault. One of the spaces that lend themselves to Foucault is disability, and I believe this essay by Nirmala Erevelles will be a good sounding board for thinking about Foucault and the institutions that we come into contact with.
As always, please feel free to join even if you have not read the book or are not familiar with the topics discussed - we intend to make the discussion as accessible as possible. Thank you!
