- In this session, Dan Vega will explore the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and show how it provides a standardized way to build AI-enabled Java applications while maintaining control over security, infrastructure, and data access
- Join us to learn how Java developers can move beyond AI demos and start building secure, practical, and extensible MCP-powered applications.
## Format
- 6:30pm — Welcome & Networking: Pizza, drinks and name tags will be provided—come hungry and ready to connect!
- 7:00pm — Get people into the auditorium.
- 7:05pm — Orlando JUG and ODevs opening remarks.
- 7:10pm — Building and Securing MCP Servers in Java.
- 8:20pm — Q&A + Social Time. Two attendees will each win a JetBrains license (e.g. IntelliJ IDEA, CLion, PyCharm Pro, ReSharper, etc.) and 3 attendees will each win an O'Reilly book.
## Speaker
- Dan Vega is a Java Champion, Spring Developer Advocate, YouTuber, and lifelong learner with a passion for helping developers learn, build, and grow. Through his talks, tutorials, articles, and open-source work, Dan shares practical insights on Java, Spring, AI, and modern application development with developers around the world.
