Women Who Play — Strings & Friendship 🎸

Welcome! This is a women-only meetup for anyone who plays, or has always wanted to learn, a stringed instrument.

This is a new group, just starting out, so we're looking for women with a passion for making music.

Guitar, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, fiddle, bass, dulcimer… if it has strings, bring it along!

You do not need to know how to play. Complete beginners are absolutely welcome. If you've never picked up an instrument but have always wanted to try, this is a place to learn, ask questions, get encouragement, and play alongside other women without feeling intimidated or judged.

If you're already an experienced musician, we'd love to have you too! Come share songs, techniques, tips, and a little of what you've learned along the way.

What we're about

Our goal is to create a relaxed, supportive space where women can:

Learn an instrument from the very beginning
Practice with other women
Share songs, chords, techniques, and tips
Jam without worrying about being "good enough"
Meet other women who love music
Encourage and learn from one another
Laugh, make mistakes, and have fun!

No auditions, no skill requirements, and no expectations. Bring your instrument, your curiosity, and yourself.

Who this group is for

This group was created specifically as a women-only space for women who were assigned female at birth (AFAB). We recognize that many wonderful and inclusive music communities are available to everyone; this group is intentionally focused on providing an AFAB women's space.

Whether you're learning your very first chord or you've been playing for 30 years, there's a seat in the circle for you.
