About us

Welcome to Oscar's 50 Plus Meetup group, a place to come together to enjoy good food, drinks, music, and company.
Come along and make new friends and have a relaxing evening filled with laughter and conversation, this is the group for you if you are lucky enough to be aged 50 and upwards in Southampton.

We have regular evening pub meet-ups on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month plus other events suggested by our members.

Oscar's has existed in Southampton under the banner of a couple of groups, most recently Southampton Social Butterflies, which we are still closely associated with.
So, if you are a regular Oscar's member, a lapsed member or brand new to Oscar's, you will receive a warm welcome at all of our events.

You will always know where we are in a venue because of the gold Oscar statue on our table! 😊

Name and photo

It is a requirement of Oscar’s 50 Plus that you have a current head and shoulders photo And your real name and surname (or initial). To change these please follow the instructions below.

On the app:

Open Meetup. To change your name go to the Home page (house icon at the bottom). Click on your face in the top right. Click the pencil icon. Then click on Account Info and you can change your name there.

To change photo: Go to the Home page (house icon at the bottom) Click on your face in the top right. Click on your photo to change it.

On the Meetup website:

Go to Meetup.com and log in. Click on your face in the top right. In the drop down menu choose Settings. On the settings page choose Edit Profile and you can change your name and photo there.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Our group has a strict zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, or malicious behavior. Any behavior that compromises the safety or well-being of our members—whether inside group events or carried over into external platforms—will result in an immediate, permanent ban without warning.
