What we’re about
Hello fellow book lovers!
\
We are Oslo Book Club - a book discussion club that was born on Meetup in the dark depths of winter 2012. Since then, we have grown quite a bit. Nowadays we meet twice a month to share our love for reading and to discuss books and short stories in a friendly and inspiring environment. It is a wonderful way to discover great books and to meet new and like-minded people.
We have a monthly poll to select our reads for the next month and this poll is made up of suggestions from our members. So whether it's a classic you've always wanted to read, a book you love or something that caught your eye in the bookstore, it's up to you. Discussions will start on the book we have read that month but often spread to other cultural topics such as films, plays and music as well.
\
So please come along and join us for a discussion and open your mind to some books you probably wouldn't have dreamed of reading!

See all- Story & social: "The Beast in the Jungle" by Henry JamesBristol Pub, Oslo
Join us for our April short story meetup! This month we'll be discussing "The Beast in the Jungle" by Henry James, considered by many to be one of the founders of the modernist fiction writing.
Note that this story is a little long -- 40+ pages, depending on typesetting -- so give yourself some time to read this one! (Or just skim it and skip to the end? We can always talk more about the style and vibe than the plot--reading the whole thing is not required)
You can download a PDF copy of the story or read the free version on Project Gutenberg.
As usual, we're combining our short story discussion with some socializing. We'd like to make this meetup an opportunity for everyone to come out and meet fellow book lovers in a casual setting!
We'll be meeting at Bristol Pub, Kristian IVs gate 9, close to the old National Gallery. They have drinks and food (burgers and snacks) for those who want to eat or drink something while we chat. Hope to see you all there!
