Alley Pond Park Loop - border of Queens and Nassau County - 4 mi. 🤷

Details
Okay so this is the first time I'll be leading a hike where I'm kind of winging it. In other words, I've never been on this trail before, so this will be the first time I've ever hiked a trail that I haven't done at least once. Not to worry though, I do have my AllTrails map app so I can promise we won't get lost. 🤞
That being said, I still might make a few wrong turns here and there. 🤦
Either way, the goal is to squeeze out around four miles.
From what I understand, this is considered to be an easy to moderate trail. I've been told that the trail includes some hills and winding paths, beautiful scenery and a peaceful environment.
So join us, one and all, for this little adventure. I'm sure we'll have a good time and I promise to get you back to your car safe and sound.
REMINDER: New attendees to my Late-Summer to Winter hiking season are required to pay a one time semi-annual $5.00 fee to cover my planning, preparation and Meetup.com's exorbitant admin fees. This fee will cover you for all future hikes through January 2026.
Generous donations are also greatly appreciated.
IMPORTANT!!!
If you plan to attend this hike, it is essential that you RSVP. Unless you are a guest,
YOU NEED TO RSVP TO ATTEND.
INSTRUCTIONS:
When you arrive in the parking lot, look for Greg. I'll be standing near my big red GMC Denali pickup truck holding my sign-in clipboard .
SUGGESTIONS:
For this hike, I recommend wearing shorts, leggings or long pants and shoes with good treads. Bring water to keep yourself hydrated and, if you like, a snack to keep yourself energized.
ALERT! Since it's officially bug season, insect repellent is recommended and it's a good idea to check yourself for ticks at the end of the hike, before you get back into your car or after you get home.
Please, if you RSVP, DON'T BE A NO SHOW!
If you can't make it last minute, please cancel your RSVP. If you get lost, call me for directions. If you're running late, call me with your ETA. If you have any other questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to contact Greg anytime.
Thank you for being a member.
