Welwyn Preserve Loop(4.0 mi.) - Glen Cove

Details
Located in the surrounding area around the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center in Glen Cove, this preserve with its wooden bridges, flowing streams and pristine beach is a thoroughbred in the stable of excellent hiking trails in the northern part of Nassau County.
This hike will be easy to moderate, so it's highly recommended that you wear shoes with good treads and dress appropriately for the weather.
We will be hiking on pavement as well as hiking on paths in winding, mildly hilly woods, wooden bridges and beaches.
NOTICE: New attendees to my Mid-Summer to Winter hiking season are required to pay a one time semi-annual $5.00 fee to cover my planning, preparation and Meetup.com's exorbitant fees. This fee will cover you for all future hikes through January 2026.
Generous donations are also greatly appreciated.
IMPORTANT!!!
If you plan to attend this hike, it is essential that you RSVP. Unless you are a guest,
YOU NEED TO RSVP TO ATTEND.
INSTRUCTIONS:
When you arrive, look for Greg. I'll be standing near my big red GMC Denali pickup truck holding my sign-in clipboard .
SUGGESTIONS:
For this hike, I recommend wearing shorts, leggings or long pants and shoes with good treads. Bring water to keep yourself hydrated and, if you like, a snack to keep yourself energized.
ALERT! Since it's still bug season, insect repellent is recommended and it's a good idea to check yourself for ticks at the end of the hike, before you get back into your car or after you get home.
Please, if you RSVP, DON'T BE A NO SHOW! If you can't make it last minute, please cancel your RSVP. If you get lost, call me for directions. If you're running late, call me with your ETA. If you have any other questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to call or text Greg anytime.
Thank you for being a member.
