Nissequogue River State Park Greenbelt Trail - 4.1 mi.
Details
This is a really great 4.1 mile trail. This is what I call a round and round and out and back trail that starts at the beginning of the Suffolk County North Greenbelt Trail.
Enter park at the corner of St. Johnland Rd. and Kings Park Boulevard. Look for the large Nissequogue River State Park sign (see photo). There is no charge to enter the park, so ignore the $8.00 sign.
Hike includes picturesque views of the Long Island Sound, rocky beaches, forest streams, deer and a few unusual points of interest plus a touch of the Kings Park Asylum
This Trail is rated as easy. There are a few hills but nothing too strenuous. Because there's a decent amount of foliage and some narrow paths, I recommend long pants, long sleeve shirts and shoes with a decent tread, preferably hiking shoes.
ALERT! Since it's still bug season, insect repellent is recommended and it's a good idea to check yourself for ticks at the end of the hike, before you get back into your car or after you get home.
LOCATION: Refer to the posted map or just paste these coordinates into Google maps to show you where we're parking. 40.8996661 -73.2306220
PLEASE, if you RSVP don't be a no-show. we don't want to wait around one ring if you're going to show. if you're running late or lost call or text Greg at 631-275-0512.
There is a one time semi-annual $5.00 administrative fee which covers all future hikes through Feb. 2026. This fee pays for my planning and helps cover the nearly $200 Meetup.com charges I receive every 6 months to use their website and organize the events.
Thank you all for being a member.
Happy Trails,
