8-10 mi. Combo Hike - Northport

This will be Off The Beaten Trail's longest hike yet. It will be a minimum of 8 Miles with an optional 2 additional miles.

We will start and park in the VA Meadowlark Bike Trail parking lot
at Back Gate Dr, Northport, NY 11768 off Middleville Road.

We will cross Middleville road going north through a long grassy field for about a mile and a half before we get to Route 25A and cross over to Makamah Preserves. we will skirt The Preserves on the straight North West Trail until we get to Fuchs Pond Preserve. we will take a brief hike around The Preserve and then head back to the first opening back into Makamah. we will put in about 2 miles at Makamah Preserves and then cross back over 25A through the field and back to the VA parking lot at Meadowlark Trail. that should be about 8 Miles but then there's a short Winding Trail that we can take on Meadowlark that would add an additional 2 miles for anyone that wants to take it. INSTRUCTIONS:
When you arrive, look for Greg. I'll be standing near my big red GMC Denali pickup truck holding my sign-in clipboard.

SUGGESTIONS:
For this hike, I recommend bringing water to stay hydrated and snacks to stay energized. I highly recommend wearing long pants or leggings, layered clothing and shoes with good treads.
