Bike Ride - Swartz Bay / Saltspring Island

This is a new route into an area I've never been on before so be prepared for an adventure. The 65.4 km ride, on paved surfaces, takes us from Fulford Harbour Ferry Terminal on the southern tip of Saltspring, north to Vesuvius Bay for lunch then around the north end of the island back thru Ganges to Fulford Harbour.

Difficulty: Moderate/ Hard if you have been biking regularly. There appears to be lots of ups and downs with an immediate 200-meter climb out of Fulford Harbour.

Estimated Ride Time: 5 hr. approx.
Total Trip Time: 8 hr. approx.

Bring: snacks//water and Pack a Lunch or buy something on Saltspring Island. There is a café at Vesuvius Bay.

Please be sure your bike is in good condition, tires are inflated and brakes are in good working order before arriving at the starting point. Carrying a Repair Kit and an extra inner tube is recommended. To help you to be seen and heard on the road, the following equipment is also recommended: a bell, flashing front and back lights or reflectors and a mirror.
