Welcome to Outdoor Adventure Friends! We are a welcoming group comprised of former strangers, now friends, with diverse backgrounds. Our bond is a common sense of adventure and desire to share experiences with others. Activities include hiking, kayaking, biking, camping and some other social events/trips. The majority of our events span across the Phila., Lehigh, Pocono, Reading, New Jersey and Hudson Valley areas. We are an all year round active group with multiple events weekly and a variety of leaders, each bringing a unique style. Group is open to all that are 21 and over and have a basic fitness and like to exercise in the outdoors.

General Release of Liability is accepted when you join the group. Meetup organizers are not professionally trained guides or trained in medical emergencies. We are simply a group of volunteers with a shared passion for the outdoors and getting others together. You will never be forced to do something you do not want to do or forced to participate in any activity while on an event. Participant acknowledges and accepts all risks associated with participating in an activity hosted by Outdoor Adventure Friends. By attending an event you are agreeing that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AT ALL TIMES. No member of the group EXCEPT YOURSELF can be held responsible for any damages, accidents, or liabilities incurred while participating in events with us.

Join me for a challenging out and back hike along the AT followed by a gathering at the Thunderhead Lodge. The Thunderhead Lodge caters to hikers and food is good. Here is the link: Thunderhead Lodge
About the hike:
We will start our 13 mile trek across the street from the Thunderhead Lodge in the designated AT parking lot (see Meetup PIN). The route is all on the AT so elevation is only about 1,500' , but expect very rocky conditions and rock scrambling scrambling through Knifes Edge, Bear Rocks and Back Oven Knob. This will be done TWICE as it is an out and back hike. This hike will be FUN, but it will test of your endurance!
Pace: typical pace for this group is 3.2 - 3.5 mph. Certain parts of the hike we will cruise at this pace. Other parts we won't be able to due to rocky conditions. Overall we keep a steady flow with very limited pauses to ensure all are ok. NOTE: There WILL be stops to enjoy the view (and snack as you desire) at Bear Rock and Bake Oven Knob. So pack a little patience during these stops to make hike enjoyable for all...:)
Gear: Proper hiking gear and footwear required.
Food: Pack water and some snacks. As noted, we will heading to Thunderhead Lodge for a meal after hike for those interested.
Membership: All attendees MUST be members of Outdoor Adventure Friends. It is essential for communication.
Other: hike will be cancelled and rescheduled if weather poses hazards due to the amount of rocks. Carpooling suggested....
Parking: We will park in the designated AT lot across from the restaurant. See Meetup PIN.
