This will be easier then most of my weekend hikes in terms of elevation and terrain. Hike will start out in the quaint village of St. Peters with some rock scrambling before we make our way over to Hopewell Furnace.
Hopewell Furnace is a restored 19th-century "iron plantation" operating from 1771–1883 that illustrates early American industrialization. The 848-acre site features a cold-blast furnace, ironmaster’s mansion, and worker homes, showcasing1830s-1840s rural industry, charcoal making, and community life.
Expect an average brisk pace of 3.2-3.5mph with very few stops to regroup. We will stop at Hopewell Furnace site for about 30 minutes to enjoy the structures and to refuel. I would NOT consider this a beginner hike due to speed and distance. However, this is a good hike to push yourself past your comfort zone and you can bail at any point. Just be sure to have ALL TRAILS or some sort of GPS app to find your way back to car safely.
