Snapshot:
Intensity: Moderate
Length: 13 miles
Duration: About 6 hours (Note end times are best estimate)
Pace: Average about 3.2 mph flat/downhill; slower uphill
Elevation: 2,500 feet

DESCRIPTION:
Join me for a moderate paced, slightly challenging "almost summer" hike. We will start out climbing up the Garvey Springs Trail via the trail next to the waterfalls. The climb is immediate from the parking lot, so be prepared to warm up on the climb. This will knock out our first 500 feet of elevation, followed by another 500 until we reach the back side of Sunfish Pond.
We will make our way to the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center via the AT. After a little loop at the center, we will head back via the Copper Mine and Kaiser trails.

This hike has one major climb with plenty of ridge walking along the AT. So it is a great hike for those looking for a balance of challenge and socialization. Pace will purposely be a little slower then our usual fast pace to allow some new folks to check out "THE HYPE"..lol.

SOCIAL AFTER HIKE: TBD

GEAR REQUIRED:
1- Proper footwear- hiking boots or trail runners with good grip
2- Appropriate clothing for conditions: layers, wind and rain protection based upon forecast.
3- WATER or other source of hydration; food/snacks as needed
4- Electrolytes suggested
5- Hiking poles, backpacks, sunscreen and bug spray as needed.

WEATHER: Heavy rain will cancel. Light rain usually ok.

PARKING AND MEETING LOCATION: Douglas Parking area at Worthington State Forest Campground. See Meetup PIN for exact spot.

Note: I have only parked in this lot once during the winter. It is not huge, thus the early start time in hopes of beating the crowds. I suggest getting there a little early and carpool if possible.

GUEST and ATTENDANCE POLICY: All attendees must be members of Outdoor Adventure Friends. This is for communication purposes to ensure that those in attendance understand exactly what they are signing up for. Repeated no shows or a history of signing up and dropping off excessively when there is a waitlist will exclude you from being moved off of future waitlists and special events
PLEASE NOTE: I cannot respond to calls, texts, emails, messages on meetup, or comments on the event page once we start hiking. Please plan accordingly.
