Since this year is the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding, we’re going to have our annual Fourth of July hike on Friday July 3rd to avoid the crowds celebrating this monumental day at Valley Forge. Plus, it allows us to spend July Fourth with our friends and families. Since the holiday is Saturday most people will have off on Friday anyway.

We will be doing a quick, quicker or quickerer paced but fun hike on the trails of Mt. Misery and Mt. Joy at Valley Forge. We usually have 3 groups each going at a slightly different pace and elevation.

The Groups' Pace / Distance / Elevation is as follows:
The Advanced group will be moving at 3.2 to 3.5mph and complete 6+ miles and 1500+ ft of elevation. (maybe... even 1776ft?)
The Moderate group will be moving at 2.8 to 3.2mph and complete 5+ miles and 1200+ ft of elevation.
The Fife and drum group will be moving at 2.5 to 2.8 mph and complete 4+ miles and 1000+ ft of elevation.
( The Pace will be a little slower going up and down hills).

Each leader will take a few short breaks to allow for hydration and regrouping and will adjust distance and elevation within reason based on the group's skill level.

Please try to be on time as a courtesy to the others. Allow extra travel time; don't be a Minuteman pulling into the lot at exactly 10:00.

Best to wear hiking boots or trail running shoes as we'll be on dirt trails with rocks and tree roots, not paved paths. A Hiking stick is handy for these trails, but not required.

Definitely recommend hydrating before the hike and bring plenty of water and a snack if you want.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but MUST be kept on a static length leash at all times!

GUEST and ATTENDANCE POLICY: All attendees must be members of Outdoor Adventure Friends. This is for communication purposes to ensure that those in attendance understand exactly what they are signing up for. Please be courteous and change your rsvp in a timely fashion if you can no longer attend this event.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are running late, group message me before 9:45 so one of the groups can accomodate you. I cannot read or reply to messages once we start.
NOTICE: Meetup organizers are not professionally trained. By attending this event you agree that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AT ALL TIMES. No member of the group EXCEPT YOURSELF can be held responsible for any damages, accidents or liabilities incurred while hiking with us.
