Kayaking/SUP on Lake Wallenpaupack to Epply Island

Enjoy a fun afternoon on the cool blue waters of Lake Wallenpaupack.
We'll Kayak, Stand Up Paddleboard, Canoe, etc from the Wilsonville Boat ramp to Epply Island.
We'll beach our vessels on the sandy shore on the north end of Epply Island and get out to explore. The island has grills, picnic tables, and yes even portapotties.
The south end of the island has some giant boulders to climb on and makes for great pictures. It looks like a rocky Maine coast, but it's a Pennsylvania lake.
If staying at the campground, you can use the ramp to launch your vessel for free. If just coming for the paddle event and you have your own vessel, you will need to pay a small fee to use the ramp and beach area to launch your watercraft. Check in at the campground office and they will instruct you where to park and launch from.

This is the only practical close rental location.
I recommend reserving in advance, so they don't sell out. You want to reserve for 2:45 or earlier as the Wilsonville ramp is about a 10 minute paddle to the right as you leave their dock.
If renting, note in the comment section so we know to look for you.
Good idea to also bring:
Sunscreen (sun has a doubling effect from the sky & reflected off the water), Water shoes, Wide brim hat with a chin strap (so don’t lose if wind gusts). Dry bag, waterproof phone case, zip lock bag(s), and water bottles.
And don't forget your Oar(s) and PFD (Personal Floatation Device).
Fair weather or light rain, the event occurs; heavy rain, wind or lightning cancels the event.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are running late, group message me before 2:45 so we can try to accommodate you. Allow extra travel time so you don’t hold the group up. I cannot read or reply to messages once we start.
