Star Watch at Batsto
Details
Join us for an evening outdoors under the stars. The West Jersey Astronomical Society is hosting a Star Watch in the field at Batsto. There is an optional two-mile moderate paced hike along the Batona and Batsto Lake trails before the Star Watch begins.
From their web page:
"Star Watch" is a term amateur astronomers use for an evening get-together where we talk, look through telescopes, find new objects and enjoy each others company. Our public Star Watches are an opportunity for you to:
- Look through a variety of telescopes at planets, star clusters and galaxies and discuss what you are looking at with a knowledgeable person.
- Learn about the constellations - you don't need telescopes or binoculars for these.
- Ask questions about our solar system, cosmology, stars and many other subjects.
- Learn about telescopes, binoculars, books and software.
If you are hiking, we pull out at 6:00 pm. Come early to sign in.
If you are only coming for the Star Watch, activities begin at 8:00 pm. Be early to sign in with the leader.
Bring a chair or blanket, non-alcoholic beverage, optional snack, bug spray, and your starry questions.
