Stillwater Snow Sculptures + bridge to bridge hike + socializing at Brian's Bar
Details
We'll meet in front of the lift bridge and walk to nearby Lowell Park to view the snow sculptures that were created over the weekend (because we are snow lovers). We'll spend some time walking and viewing the sculptures. When we have had time to view the amazing sculptures, then we will do a bridge to bridge hike for right about 5 miles.
This hike will be a combination of viewing the snow sculptures at Lowell Park and the Stillwater bridge to bridge hike for about 5 miles.
This may be a challenging work out for some due to snow and the hill on the other side of the lift bridge. The pace would be considered moderate plus. The hiking portion will be 17-18:00 minute mile pace. It is pretty flat except for the 1st hill. The trail is 95%+ paved trail. With the melt & refreeze and rain & free, grippers are highly recommended!!
Social time afterwards at Brian's Bar & Grill where they have $3 burgers on Wednesday's. The address is Brian's Bar & Grill - 219 Main St S, Stillwater, MN 55082.
We'll start the event pretty quickly (6:05 PM) so If you are running late, please leave a message on the event so we know to wait for you, or go looking for you. Future events may be limited if you are a no show.
Dog's are allowed, but must be kept on a leash. Owners are required to pick up after their pet. Dogs are not allowed in Brian's.
Things to know for hiking:
1. Dress in layers. It may be cool at the start, but you will warm up while hiking. Layers allows you to remove a layer, if needed.
2. Bring a dry shirt for socializing afterwards. It helps prevent chills in all seasons!
3. Decent shoes. The route that we will be taking is all paved. Snow boots are not a good option.
4. Bring water as you feel necessary.
5. Headlamps will be necessary as it is dark while we are on the hike.
We will meet at the pedestrian plaza by the historic lift bridge and start our hike from there. Please don't leave valuables in your vehicle. While we haven't had issues, other groups have and better to be safe than sorry!
By signing up you agree to release the organizers, event hosts and other members of the event from any liability. Please do not attend if you are ill/contagious as no one else wants to get sick.
Hope to see you on the trail!
