Day: 4 – Athens - Thermopylae - Kalambaka

This morning, visit Metéora and enjoy guided tours of two remote monasteries* situated in a unique landscape of limestone rock “towers” that extend nearly 900 feet into the air.

More than 600 years ago, Byzantine monks chose to build their monastic community perched atop these virtually inaccessible rocks.

Continue on to charming Arachova, a popular ski resort town with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Today, it’s your choice! Journey to ancient Mycenae, once ruled by mythological King Agamemnon, commander-in-chief of the Greeks during the Trojan War.

Explore the excavations during a guided visit featuring the Beehive Tombs and the Lion Gate -OR- linger in Nafplio and join a walking tour of Greece’s first capital city.

Nafplio’s mix of Venetian and Neo-classical architectural influences make it Greece’s most elegant city.

Day: 10 – Tolo - Piraeus Port - Aegina Island - Athens

This morning, make your way to Piraeus Port in Athens, getting a view of the Corinth Canal along the way.
Then, board a quick hour long ferry to Aegina Island. One of the Saronic Islands, Aegina is inhabited year-round, offering a glimpse into Greek island life.

Spend your afternoon on this island, famed for its pistachios and fresh seafood, however you wish.

Perhaps you’ll soak up Aegina Town with its shops and local markets, or venture a little farther on your own by taxi to nearby archaeological sites.

Gather with your fellow travelers to celebrate the end of a memorable trip over a farewell lunch before returning to Athens by ferry.

Day 1 - San Jose
Arrive in San Jose

Day 2 - San Jose to Tortuguero

Today we depart to Tortuguero National Park on the Atlantic Coast, crossing Costa Rica from west to east, descending into the lowlands of the Caribbean coast. Our drive takes us towards the delightful North Caribbean. Admire the rainforest of Costa Rica and the beautiful Rio Sucio as we cross the majestic Braulio Carrillo National Park. We continue until Guápiles where we will stop to enjoy breakfast

In Caño Blanco we board a river boat where our exciting tour really begins. During the two hour trip, we will observe various animals and vegetation. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge.
Spend the afternoon at the pool, kayaking or exploring the hotel.

Day 3 - Tortuguero

After breakfast our group will explore by boat the National Park of Tortuguero which shelters a fabulous array of wildlife. There are unusually large populations of monkeys, amphibians, birds, including the great green macaw, fish and three species of marine turtles. Resident fauna include the tapir, ocelot, jaguars, collared peccaries, river otters, sloth, grisons, frogs, toucans, and the fascinating bulldog bats which feed on fish.

The wide-open canals make viewing easy for spotting crocodiles, giant iguanas, and basilisk lizards basking atop the branches, swallow-tailed hawks and vultures swooping over the treetops, and caimans on the fallen raffia palm branches at the side of the river.

After lunch at the lodge, we head to the Tortuguero town and the Caribbean Conservation Center. The town of Tortuguero is a fairly basic style. There are no cars in the island town of Tortuguero but there are a few shops and restaurants. Be sure to walk the little foot paths to Tortuguero beach, the most important meeting site of the endangered green turtle in the Western Hemisphere.

At night, we can take an optional taxi boat into town to dance or sing karaoke with locals.

Day 4 - Tortuguero to Arenal
Eat an early breakfast before we board the boats back to Caño Blanco port where our private transfer takes us to the Arenal Area.

After lunch at the El Ceibo restaurant, we continue to La Fortuna and get our first full view of the majestic Arenal Volcano. It is the only volcano in Costa Rica constantly active since it woke up after 400 years with the big 1968 eruption producing huge ash columns, explosions & glowing red lava almost every day. It is considered one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world.

Day 5 - Arenal
Eat an early breakfast before we board the boats back to Caño Blanco port where our private transfer takes us to the Arenal Area.

After lunch at the El Ceibo restaurant, we continue to La Fortuna and get our first full view of the majestic Arenal Volcano. It is the only volcano in Costa Rica constantly active since it woke up after 400 years with the big 1968 eruption producing huge ash columns, explosions & glowing red lava almost every day. It is considered one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world.

Now, it is time to sit our buts and float. Our tubing course is about 500 meters long and you can choose to run just the tower section which is about 180 meters and maintains total visibility to our open viewing area to make your feel more comfortable.

After a long soak in the hot mineral springs at The Springs. Take time to relax in the thermal hot springs and naturally heated jacuzzis. You will feel the rumblings of the volcano. Day 6 - Arenal - Monteverde
After breakfast we board our pontoon boat for a 40 minute ride to Río Chiquito, a little town on the other side of the lake from Arenal. Once there we have a short break before a 1.5 hour ride to our hotel in Monteverde.

The Monteverde Cloud Rain Forest is known for its conservation efforts and lifestyle centered on nature.

There are more than 100 species of mammals, including five species of cats, more than 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insects and 1,500 species of plants.

The afternoon it is time for ziplining through the canopy of trees.

Sky Trek is a system of trails, suspension bridges, and zip lines that offer visitors the opportunity to observe, view and appreciate tropical vegetation from different vantage points above the canopy. Two suspended bridges in, and above the canopy, one 265 feet long, and one 60 meters. There are three platforms above the canopy, connected by zip lines, a canopy observation tower 72' high and 10 cables system with the longest 1,400 feet.

Day 7 - Monteverde - Manuel Antonio

Before we depart Monteverde we will hike in the reserve for a few hours. Elevation ranges from 600 meters above sea level to 1800 meters on isolated peaks. Trails are in excellent condition with railings on the steps and in some cases slices of tree trunks creating a lily pond like path to keep people from walking through mud.

Then we transfer from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio where we check into our full-service hotel, The Parador Resort and Spa. It's time for swimming or pool side sunning and we have three options, all overlooking the gleaming turquoise Pacific: choose from the beautiful centrally-located infinity pool with swim-up bar and terrace restaurant, our secluded adult-only pool, or the infinity pool with waterfall and Jacuzzi.

Day 8 - Manuel Antonio
Sleep late or see how many different kinds of flora and fauna you can spot in a 2 ½ hour morning nature walk. Learn about the history of the Quepoa Indians and Costa Rica’s past in regard to the Manuel Antonio area, and come back with ideas as to how to help preserve this priceless. At the end of the walk savour some local fresh fruits and refreshments.

Enjoy the remainder of the day on the white sand beaches that stretch for miles along the coastline from Manuel Antonio Park, providing numerous options for surfing, sunning, kayaking and parasailing. The free shuttle service will transport you to the stunning beaches of Manuel Antonio, a quick ten minute ride away.

Tonight our group will get check out the local night life.

Day 9 - Manuel Antonio - San Jose
After breakfast, free time to enjoy the hotel and the beach before we transfer back to San José. The hotel sits atop Punta Quepos promontory, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by 12 acres of wildlife-rich tropical rainforest. The property´s grounds are home to many species of monkeys, sloths and a variety of birds, such as macaws, falcons, toucans and more.
Tonight enjoy our farewell dinner at a local Costa Rican restaurant.

Day 10 - San Jose

Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh

Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat Airport and after completing all customs and immigration procedures, please make your way to the exit gate where your guide will be waiting for you, holding a welcome sign with your name.

You will then be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle.

Day 3 - Ho Chi Minh City

Early this morning, set off with your guide on a half-day excursion to discover some of the city's most iconic landmarks.

Begin with a visit to the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral, or the Central Post Office, designed by the renowned French architect Gustave Eiffel. Stroll along Dong Khoi Street, browsing its charming shops, and round off your tour at the bustling Ben Thanh Market.

Embark on a journey from Ho Chi Minh City to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, just 1.5 hours away. Explore this extraordinary underground network, once used by the Viet Cong as communication routes, hiding places, storage areas, and living quarters during the war.
Gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s turbulent history and the remarkable ingenuity that helped shape its resilience.

Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City

Depart from Ho Chi Minh City for a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Ben Tre and embark on a peaceful river journey aboard the charming Apricot Boat.

Admire the lush landscapes, tropical orchards, and tranquil waterways. Visit a fruit orchard, taste sun-ripened coconuts, and learn how to make traditional rice papers. Continue to a family-run coconut workshop to discover local crafts and flavors.

Enjoy bicycle and tuk tuk rides through flower-lined village paths, where you’ll feel the gentle rhythm of rural life.

Glide through narrow canals on a small rowing sampan, surrounded by water coconut trees, and end the day with a delicious Mekong lunch at the Apricot Riverside Restaurant.

Day 5 - Ho Chi Minh - Hue

This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Hue, the former Imperial capital. A charming and peaceful city, Hue is renowned for its stunning architecture, including the citadel, palaces, royal tombs, pagodas, and temples, all built during the Nguyen dynasty along the picturesque Perfume River.

Upon arrival at Hue Airport, proceed to the exit gate where your guide will be waiting for you, holding a welcome sign with your name. You will then be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle.

Explore the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and admire its stunning architecture and gardens while learning about the royal court's history. Despite extensive damage during the Vietnam War, much of the citadel remains well-preserved.

Next, visit the Royal Tu Duc Tomb, a tranquil resting place surrounded by pine woods and a lakeside pavilion. This was once a retreat for the emperor, who enjoyed fishing, music, and poetry here.

On the way back to downtown Hue, stop at a family-run workshop to see how incense sticks are made.

Day 6 - Hue to Hoi An

This morning, check out and head to Hoi An, enjoying a scenic drive along the coastline. Pass over the Hai Van Pass, offering breathtaking views of lush mountains, clear blue skies, and the beautiful Lang Co Beach. From the mountain top, Lang Co appears as a picturesque scene, framed by green trees, crystal-clear waters, and the misty mountains above.

Once a thriving trading port between the 15th and 19th centuries, the riverside town of Hoi An still retains many traces of its prosperous past, seen in its lively market, numerous souvenir shops, and tailor establishments.

What makes Hoi An so remarkable is the preservation of its Old Quarter. The streets are lined with traditional tile-roofed shop houses, shaded pagodas, and colourful communal halls, contributing to its UNESCO World Heritage status.

This afternoon, enjoy a half-day guided walking tour of Hoi An ancient town, known for its well-preserved architecture, pedestrian-friendly streets, and local cuisine.

Stroll through the historic merchant houses, ancient pagodas, and places of worship, all reflecting influences from Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese cultures.

Begin with a visit to the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, over 400 years old, originally built by the Japanese community in the 1590s to connect with the Chinese quarter across the water.

Then, head to the Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation, where you can admire the intricate wood carvings on the beams, walls, and altar, while your guide shares untold stories of the Chinese community's time in Hoi An.

Continue exploring the town’s backstreets, where the gentle hum of sewing machines fills the air. Hoi An is famous for its tailor shops, and while the origins remain a mystery, you can stop at a tailor shop to have clothes made to order.

Day 7 - Hoi An

Spend the day at your leisure exploring the charming town of Hoi An, or consider visiting the scenic Ba Na Hills and the iconic Golden Bridge*.

Today, drive for about 1.5 hours from Hoi An to Ba Na Hills, a scenic mountain area with cool temperatures year-round.

Take a ride on the modern cable car for stunning views of the landscape, then walk on the Golden Bridge, supported by giant hands emerging from the mountain.

Enjoy free time to explore the area, with options to visit European-style villas, indoor games, flower gardens, pagodas, and the French Wine Cellar (extra cost).

Day 8 - Hoi An - Hanoi

This morning, check out of your hotel in Hoi An and transfer to Da Nang Airport for your flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival at Noi Bai Airport, your guide will be waiting at the exit gate, holding a welcome sign with your name on it.

You will then be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle.

Explore Ha Noi's Old Quarter, or 36 Streets, a historic area with unique architecture and vibrant local life. Once a centre for specialised trades, it now offers a fascinating glimpse into daily life.

Wander through narrow alleys, visit Dong Xuan Market for local goods, and experience life along the train tracks, where trains pass through residential streets. End with a stop at a vintage coffee shop to watch the trains pass by, blending the old and modern vibes of Hanoi.

Day 9 – Hanoi - Ha Long Bay

This morning, you will meet your driver in the hotel lobby and depart by shuttle bus (an escorted guide from Hanoi is provided for groups of 10 or more) for the journey to Halong Bay (or Lan Ha Bay, a part of Halong), a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, renowned for its thousands of breathtaking limestone islets and grottoes rising from the clear, emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink on board before checking in to the Halong Bay Cruise.

Lunch will be served as the boat, a traditional junk, cruises past numerous stone islets, floating villages, and small beaches. Visit a floating fishing village and unwind on the sundeck.

Dinner will be served as the boat anchors in a tranquil, designated overnight area.

Night on board.

Important: The cruise operator will follow only one itinerary to either Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay. Itinerary is subject to change without prior notice according to weather conditions or local administration regulations. There will be no guide on board.

Day 10 - Ha Long Bay - Hanoi
This morning, wake up early to witness the sunrise over the bay with a cup of tea or coffee in hand on the sundeck.

Afterwards, enjoy a gentle Tai Chi session.

Savour brunch in the fresh air of the bay while the boat cruises through some of the most serene and scenic areas.

Relax on the sundeck or in the dining room, taking in the stunning views as the boat makes its way back to the wharf.

The vehicle will be ready to transfer you back to Hanoi as soon as you disembark.

Day 11 - Hanoi - Night on board
