Not a sprint, not a stroll, steady pace, ~2-2.5 mph. Join me if you can for a 'moderate' hike around the base of Stone Mountain. Mostly shaded, natural surface, LOTS of exposed roots, rocks & granite, mild elevation (396 ft), NOT A BEGINNER HIKE particularly in this heat, good balance and footing essential, trekking poles welcome.
Please be flexible, end time is a guesstimate, plan to stay together, break as needed, bring water/snack, insect repellent. A couple restrooms along the way.
Kindly leave your furry four-legged loved ones at home.
We'll meet at the restrooms near the start of the walk-up trail, adjacent to Confederate Hall parking lot, arrive a few minutes early for brief intros.
If you don't have an annual pass ($40), there is a $20 daily parking fee; however, free parking is available at St Michael's Episcopal Church, 6780 James B Rivers Memorial Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30083 or Stone Mtn Village, short walk to Confederate Hall from there. Please allow enough time though, so we can begin on time.
