👣 Hike Description
Our adventure begins at Box Hill Station, where we'll follow peaceful woodland trails and country paths into the heart of the Surrey Hills. We'll pass beneath the striking Westhumble Railway Arch, a hidden local landmark nestled at the foot of Box Hill. From here, the route leads us to the magnificent Polesden Lacey Estate built in 1821, a grand Edwardian country house set high above a hidden valley in the North Downs. As we explore the estate, we'll pass the charming Thatched Bridge, one of Polesden Lacey's most photographed landmarks, before enjoying sweeping views across the surrounding parkland and countryside

Leaving the estate behind, our route climbs onto the North Downs escarpment, where wide panoramic views stretch across the Surrey landscape. From here we'll descend through peaceful fields towards an unexpected sight—the impressive Denbies Wine Estate. With rows of vines covering the hillsides, England's largest single-estate vineyard ( it can produce up to a million bottles of wine a year from its 265 acres of vines ) feels more like rural France than southern England.

(There will be a pop-up Autumn Market in Denbies Wine Estate, free entry featuring unique handmade, British-made and eco-friendly goods from local artisans and creative makers. Explore fashion, gifts, homeware, art, food and drink in a friendly, inspired shopping environment.)

We’ll finish our hike in the historic market town of Dorking after a day filled with woodland trails, sweeping views, and vineyard landscapes.
