👣 Walk Description
The Parkland Walk is London’s longest linear nature reserve, following the route of a former railway line that connected Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace after opening in 1873. Today, this much-loved green corridor has gained international recognition and regularly appears on “must-do” lists for visitors exploring London. Step away from the city’s busy streets and take a moment to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, where woodland, wildflowers and nature create a tranquil escape in the heart of North London.

Our walk begins at Finsbury Park station and follows the Parkland Walk through a beautiful mix of woodland, open green spaces and historic railway landscapes. As we continue, we’ll explore the peaceful surroundings of Highgate Wood, one of London’s ancient woodlands, with a history stretching back over a thousand years. Its mature trees, quiet pathways and rich wildlife make it a wonderful place to slow down and appreciate the natural beauty around us.

The trail leads us towards Alexandra Palace, affectionately known as “Ally Pally”, where we’ll pause to admire one of the best panoramic views across London. This iconic landmark has been at the heart of London’s entertainment and broadcasting history for over 150 years.

From Alexandra Palace, we’ll make our way down towards Hornsey, finishing our adventure at the Great Northern Railway Tavern, a beautifully restored Grade II listed Victorian pub. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy a drink, and share stories from the walk.
