Field Trip: New Haven – Yale and the Green
Wednesday April 30, 2025 – 9:05 am – 6:25 pm

How to Find Us:
Meet at the clock in the Grand Central Terminal main concourse at 8:50 am to board the 9:05 am Metro North train to New Haven. We will return on the 4:14 pm train from Union Station, arriving Grand Central at 6:25 pm. Round-trip tickets – buy before boarding or on the MTA app – cost $36.50 ($24.50 for seniors).

Limited to 25 walkers. $5 for nonmembers of New York Outdoors Club.
Note: A free shuttle bus takes us to and from the New Haven Green. It is bordered by several historic churches, homes and public buildings. After viewing them and eating a picnic lunch (best to bring your own food), we will tour the Yale campus. We'll see a number of academic buildings designed in a variety of styles and will be able to enter at least a few of them. The walk then proceeds along an avenue described by both Charles Dickens and Mark Twain as “the most beautiful in America.” The tour ends at Yale's two world-class art museums, both free of charge. It should be possible to spend an hour at either or both prior to returning to Union Station.

Toilets are available at numerous locations along the route.
