OUTdoorsy Goes to Savannah — Halloween Weekend!
October 30 – November 1, 2026
Optional extension through Monday, November 2
Savannah, Georgia
We’re trading trails for cobblestones and heading to one of the most beautiful — and slightly haunted — cities in the South for Halloween weekend.
Think moss-draped oaks, historic squares, riverfront sunsets, ghost stories, great food and plenty of Halloween energy.
This will be a relaxed, social and highly walkable weekend — more wandering and laughing than hiking and sweating.
Costumes encouraged Saturday night.

If you are planning to travel by train, here are some dates and routes:

Friday, October 30 — Silver Meteor #98
Jacksonville departure: 4:11 p.m.
Savannah arrival: 6:37 p.m.

Coming Home — Sunday or Monday
Our original trip still runs through Sunday, November 1, but some of us are adding another night so we can enjoy an extra day in Savannah and return Monday morning.
Choose whichever option works for you:
Silver Meteor #97 — Sunday, November 1 OR Monday, November 2
Savannah departure: 6:49 a.m.
Jacksonville arrival: 9:24 a.m.
If you stay through Monday, Sunday becomes a bonus day for more exploring, eating, wandering and enjoying Savannah.

Where to Stay
To keep things flexible, everyone books their own lodging. We recommend staying in or near Savannah’s Historic District so we’re within easy walking distance of most group activities.
Suggested hotels:
• Holiday Inn Express Savannah-Historic District
• Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Historic District
• Homewood Suites Historic District/Riverfront
• River Street Inn (for boutique vibes)

If you’re staying through Monday, remember to reserve three nights instead of two.
As the Trip Gets Closer
If you’re planning to join us, now is a good time to:
• Confirm your RSVP
• Book your train tickets if you’re riding with the group
• Reserve your lodging
• Decide whether you’re returning Sunday or staying through Monday
• Start thinking about that Halloween costume

If you previously RSVP’d Yes but your plans have changed, please update your RSVP so we have an accurate headcount as we finalize reservations and activities.
This is shaping up to be one of those classic OUTdoorsy weekends — easygoing, social, festive, and just a little mysterious.
