Have you heard about application and software security but are not exactly sure what it is, what it means, and why it is important? Join us on Wednesday, March 27th 2024 as we provide a deep-dive overview of what application security is and why it is so important to cyber security programs and businesses going forward in the digital age.
This talk is designed to be introductory in nature and geared towards educating students at the University of Maine on application and software security and its importance, as this is a core mission of our chapter. We will:
- Introduce the students to what OWASP is and who OWASP Maine is
- Introduce the students to what application and software security is and why it is important in today's digital age
- A panel of local application security leaders will speak to the students about their experience and what got them to where they are today
- A technical deep dive into what an application security vulnerability is and how it can be damaging
- Hear from CISA on how the federal government is looking to help solve the appsec problem
- Discuss career opportunities and internships in the space of application and software security
