Glacier Point, Yosemite and the Eastside

Details

You can join me for all, some or just one day (or none...yikes!). I won't worry about no shows, I'll be too busy. If you cancel at the last minute, it won't be a problem. If you show up at the last minute, no problema, but don't expect me to wait past the start time (no cell service in Yose, except the Valley), I will be camping--my rez allows 5, plus one add tent, one add car. Or reserve your own. Look into hotel rez soon for best pricing (either Wawona Hotel or maybe just outside the Park near El Portal (that's a longer drive to Glacier). At Glacier, I will be doing short hikes, Sentinel Dome (steep but short) and Taft Point. Bring food and H2O, they may be in short supply. Bring all your toys, the one you leave behind may be the one you want the most. After Glacier Point and a short romp around the Valley, I will be heading north to cross the Sierra on whichever pass is open, hopefully the Sonora Pass or Ebbetts. Then to hot springs, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes, Bristlecone Pine Forest, Alabama Hills, depending on road conditions. You could join by just driving up the 395 to Mono or Mammoth for that part. If you arrive in Yose on the weekend, you will need a pass for entry between 5am and 4 pm (available at rec.gov for $2?). I am adding two optional adventures to this event. One, three peaks hike in Bristlecone Pine Forest. Not long, but steep, good footing if no snow—these peaks are at 10,600' + with great views extending to Death Valley, the Eureka Dunes and the Sierra crest. The altitude may effect some, but you can always turn back and return to your car, or spend your time at the visitors center and ramble around. Two, photo shoot in the Alabama Hills.
UPDATE: If Glacier Point road is not open by the time I leave, I will post that here and drive up the 395 to Mono Lake and camp at Lower Lee Vining. The NP does not post the opening until just before they open the road. If the Sonora Pass is open, we will spend the better part of a day photographing the many waterfalls along the pass. I am also planning a sunrise shoot at Mono, a full moon rise over the lake and a side trip to the wild horse band, corral, artesian well and ranch/stage stop. The rest of our time can be spent along the June lake loop, Rock Creek lake if open, Bishop creek and then, to the Bristlecone Forest.
