Join us for our first PPS visit to the Southern California Railway Museum up in Perris (north of Murrieta and Lake Elsinore.) This Museum has an extensive collection of train engines, cars, trolleys and streetcars. Some are in restored condition while others are in very rustic condition, plus many in between those extremes.

The grounds and equipment barns are free and open to the public to wander. There are also short rides available on working trains and various streetcars. There is a $12 fee that allows for as many rides on any of the trains and streetcars that you'd like, and the rides begin at 11 am. Of course as nonprofit organization, the Museum welcomes support through visitor donations.

Wide angle, short zooms and macro lenses are suggested. Macros would be especially helpful to capture interesting surface textures. Tripods could be useful with the macros and with the low light conditions in some of the barns and car interiors.

The Museum opens at 9:00 am. There is a free parking lot in front of the entrance. As it is about a 75-90 minute drive from San Diego to the Museum, we will meet at 9:15 am at the walkway from the parking lot to the entrance. At 9:15 am, we will gather for greetings and then our group photograph. After that, you may wander off on your own or partner up with others for exploring.

This destination can definitely get warm so hats, sunscreen, water and comfortable walking shoes are suggested.

Food and beverage items for purchase are extremely limited. As an alternative, you may want to bring some snacks or picnic lunch to eat in the shade on their grassy areas

Due to the location and drive, carpooling may be a good option. After you have RSVP'd, please feel free to leave a comment as to whether you are willing to have other ride with you or whether you may be looking to ride with others. Then you can coordinate directly between other members for any possible carpooling.

Please only submit an RSVP for this event if you’re 100% sure you will attend. You will be counted as a no-show if you do not show up or if you change your RSVP right before an event. You may be blocked from attending specific events after one no-show, and you will be removed as a member if you accrue three no-shows.

Please Note: By submitting a YES RSVP and participating in any PPS event, you agree that PPS, Organizers, and Event Hosts are NOT responsible for your safety or for any injury or damage to your person or your property, or that of your guest(s). You agree that you have read the instructions of the announcement and that you and your guest(s) are assuming all risks of participating in the event.
