Safari Park October Shoot

It's starting to cool off, let's go to Safari Park!

Wednesday Oct 28, 2026. The Park is open and you do not need reservations but you need season pass or tickets. Parking $20 extra/car for non-members.

We will meet in front of the main gate around 8:30-45 AM. We will enter the Safari Park when it opens at 9:00 AM sharp! We will take the group photo before we go into the park. Plan on walking 3 to 5 miles until about noon. Of course, you can stay longer if you like.

• We are starting at the top checking out the Walkabout Australia, around to Condor Ridge and down to the Tiger Trail.
• We are going to bypass the Denny Sanford Elephant Valley exhibit. Not going in this trip, but you can at the end of the walk. They are feeding and always in the same spot that time of morning, so later might be better for interesting elephant shots.
• From the Tiger area we will check in on the Nairobi village and lagoon area for the bird shooting. We will then proceed to Lion Camp to see Bo and the girls. Then on down to the Cheetahs.
• Double back from the Cheetahs to African Woods to go the Gorilla Forest, new Silverback Gorilla!!!
• And that should place us back near the entrance/exit close to noon.
• For those that want to check out Elephant Valley this would be a good place to break away. They might be more interesting to shoot and in a different area than the feeding time when we start the walk.

What to Bring:

Walking shoes, sunscreen, hat and water are all advised. Bring your medium to long lenses. Monopods can be helpful, but tripods are not recommended.

We are flexible on what we shoot and can veer off to focus on what is happening that day. I kind of lead by committee.
