Spooky Nightime Paddle: Stoney Creek from Green Haven Wharf - 3mi
Details
YOU NEED TO BRING A LIGHT!
Lack of sunshine be damned, it is going to hit 86° degrees on Friday - of course I'm going to schedule a paddle!
Come join us for a nighttime paddle of Stoney Creek in Pasadena. We'll launch from the Green Haven Wharf about a half hour before sundown and head east towards the Patapsco River, exploring some of the smaller coves along the way before turning around near the Fort Smallwood Bridge. Distance should be just over three miles. Stoney Creek is mostly residential, though we'll see a few natural areas. There is a small chance we will encounter power boats, so everyone has to STICK TOGETHER. 6:20 pm is on-the-water time so please arrive with sufficient time to get your gear unloaded (parking is very close to the water).
This is event is suitable for paddleboards (including iSUPs), recreational/touring kayaks, and canoes, but not inflatable kayaks or rafts. Everyone MUST bring the following:
- WEAR, not just bring a USCG-approved life jacket or PFD.
- A white, or tri-color (W/R/G) light of minimum 100 lumens to mount on the stern of your boat or board.
- A whistle. I have some if you somehow don't have one already.
We'll probably be back on shore just after 8:00 and grab dinner at the Broken Oar Bar & Grill afterwards.
